Is it finally spring, or are we dreaming? Perhaps a bit of both. Either way, we’re here to discuss fashion. Excited? We certainly are!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter Influences<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

While winter fashion in late 2016 and early 2017 exuded a confident and daring vibe with its risky prints and bold statements (we still can’t get enough of the Delpozo collection!), it’s now time to embrace lighter yet equally audacious options for a fresh spring start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon reviewing the Spring 2017 catwalk pieces, it became evident that selecting our favourite trends and pieces would once again be a challenge. Each year, the amazement that accompanies each new collection and the phenomenal designer styles and trends becomes more difficult to express. Doesn’t it feel like one moment we’re suffocating in chokers<\/a>, lace, and fur, and the next we’re all about diamonds and tiaras paired with athleisure, corduroy, and even velvet (wait, what?)? Oh well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blue Blood: Tudor Style<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The prevalence of puffed-up sleeves on the runway is undeniably reminiscent of the Elizabethan Age, while J.W. Anderson’s cream-coloured tops reportedly draw inspiration from the jackets worn by Henry VIII. Gucci’s ruffled gowns also offer a modern take on the Tudor style, allowing you to feel like royalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Double Duty: Trench Over Dress<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Nothing we haven\u2019t seen before, but just as equally trending in 2017. A sleek oversized trench combined with floral ladies’ dresses<\/a> definitely looks fresh, chic and stylish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ding-dong: The Bustier Is Back<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Bustier-style tops worn over jersey shirts were the hit statement pieces of spring catwalks. Apart from Tome and Tibi, Victoria Beckham was yet another designer to style up her models in neutral-coloured bustier shirts that were paired with loose skirts. It\u2019s cute!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do You Dare: Fuchsia Loving<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n

Say goodbye to bubble gum pink, sugared almond or dusty rose and invite some fuchsia<\/a> for all-night partying! We were surprised, too \u2013 especially because some of the major design pieces, such as capes, gowns and pants came in this screaming colour. Will we dare?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wannabe Ballerinas: Tulle is In<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tulle is making a comeback and it\u2019s going to be everywhere in the spring. We have to gush a little bit about Dior T and tulle skirt contrasts \u2013 bold and feminine, we loved every single moment of it. And then, there was Rochas \u2013 the collection which was flouncy and unapologetic in sherbet tones and frothy layers. Dries Van Noten followed with a dark surface layer to oriental florals. All in all \u2013 cute!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chatty Tees: Graphics Are Still In<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The runway was beaming with wordy tops this season and we kind of adored them. Apart from Haider Ackermann\u2019s take on the slogan T-s and Henry Holland\u2019s anniversary collection, we absolutely fell in love with Dior\u2019s chatty shirts<\/a>! Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first female creative director of this fashion house, made a strong political statement with a white shirt that read, \u201cWe Should All Be Feminists.\u201d Brrr, supportive chills!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forget the \u201990: Eighties Are Here<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

So, apparently \u2013 the eighties are back. Just ask Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello, Gucci\u2019s and Alexander Wang as to why. We\u2019d love an explanation, please.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
